Niche recruitment consultancy, RBUK Legal Recruitment approached Hive requiring a new website design and build. Their old, non-functional website was outdated and needed a complete overhaul to create a hub for clients and candidates to easily post and browse job vacancies.

The first step in the project was to review the branding. The existing RBUK logo was black and white to reflect the straight talking nature of the company along with their strapline ‘careers in black & white’. The downside to this, is that the logo was very recessive and lacked stand-out. To address this, the new branding saw the introduction of a striking purple colour. The incorporation of this splash of colour would ensure their new branding would be prominent amongst the competition on third party recruitment websites. In addition, pink and blue were added as secondary colours to the brand palette to create balance across the website.

After that, we looked at expanding on their existing strapline ‘careers in black & white’, to create a strong and consistent brand identity. This was achieved in part by using only black and white animal imagery across the site. Each distinct animal was then paired with a creative headline to align with the individual and niche aspect of RBUK’s recruitment consultancy.

The build of the website was focused on making the site user friendly for visitors. Therefore, the website was split into two key areas tailored for each audience; ‘Candidates’ and ‘Clients’ to make it easy to navigate. Incorporating both a simple job search and job posting form. However, it also needed to be easy for RBUK to manage. For this reason, the site was integrated with a third party candidate sourcing platform. As a result, posting new roles to the site was made easier than ever!
