Branding Strategy

Destination Worsley

Hive were commissioned by Salford City Council to create a branding strategy to support their campaign. The campaign was to encourage tourism in Worsley, an area in Salford. The area is famous for its canals which have taken on an orange hue from the iron ore in the water from years of mining. Worsley also saw the start of the industrial revolution! The area is also well known for it’s green spaces and woodland areas too.

The logo ties these elements together through the use of the large letter ‘W’ for Worsley. The ‘W’ was created to symbolise tree trunks and their reflection underneath in the orange waters of the canal.

As part of the project we also created a brand guidelines document. The brand guidelines circulated to provide clear instructions of how to consistently use the brand among all the stakeholders in the area.

We also designed and produced a range of pull-up banners, stationery and a website used for the initial launch event. We also created an innovative fold-out map. The map clearly shows all the attractions and areas of interest in and around Worsley.
